When it comes to keeping your Solaire grill performing like new, replacing worn components can make a huge difference. One of the most common replacement items on older Solaire grills is the ceramic infrared burner. Over time, the intense heat these burners produce can eventually wear out the ceramic surface, leading to uneven heating or ignition problems. Recently, a customer ordered this burner kit to bring his older Solaire grill back to life. The installation process was mostly straightforward, but he quickly noticed one issue. The stainless steel mesh covering the burner was not cut far enough over to allow the ignitor rod to pass through properly.
At first, this seemed like a manufacturing problem, but after looking into it further, it turned out the issue was actually related to the age of the grill. Older Solaire models used a slightly different ignitor placement than newer versions. Because of this, the mesh opening did not line up exactly the same way.
Fortunately, the solution was simple. While cutting the stainless steel mesh would have been extremely difficult without heavy-duty snips, there was no need to modify the burner permanently. Instead, gently bending the mesh upward from underneath created enough clearance for the ignitor rod to fit correctly. Once adjusted, the burner installed properly and the grill was back up and running.
This is a good reminder that older grills sometimes require small adjustments when installing updated solaire replacement parts.
